Attractions
Lingayen Gulf War Memorial: Within the Provincial
Capitol Compound are displayed relics reminding the
people of the last World War.
Home Economics Building Of The West Central
Elementary School: This building is the headquarter
of Gen. MacArthur. It will soon be converted into a
museum.
Cultural Attractions
Bolinao Museum: Open from Monday to Saturday,
this museum on Rizal Street across the Cape Bolinao High
School, contains art, geology, botany and zoology
materials collected in the area.
Church Of St. James Fortress: The Bolinao Church
was built by the Augustinians in 1609 that houses wooden
statues which are rare. The antique altar is flanked by
two grinning tongue-protruding Aztec visages presumably
of Mexican influence and brought over by the Galleon
Trade.
Natural Attractions
Hundred Islands National Park: Scattered off the
coast of Lucap in Alaminos are islands and islets
comprising the 1,844 hectares nature and recreational
park. On many points between the islets, the waters are
shallow for swimming and snorkeling. The Quezon Island
has picnic sheds, toilets and view decks. Children’s
Island is for camping activities while the Governor’s
Island has facilities for accommodation. Reservations
are accepted at the Public Assistance Center where
motorized bancas for trips to the islands are available.
Cacupangan and Villacorta Caves: Features huge
basin-like formations, pools, waterfalls, terraced rock,
palace-like chamber and gypsum flowers. Exploring the
cave and its vicinity is recommended during the dry
season.
Santiago Island: It is located at the northeast
coast of Bolinao. This island is a diver's paradise
because the island's corals and reefs are swarming with
marine life.
Cape Bolinao Beach: Located in Baranggay Patar,
its surf is very perfect for board surfing. In the
vicinity also is a freshwater source believed to be an
outlet of an underground river.
Mount Balungao: About 5 kilometers southeast of
the Balungao townproper, Mount Balungao has hot and cold
springs. Primarily visited for for the medicinal
benefits of the hotspring .
Antong Falls: This falls tumbles down into a
basin on a mountainside overlooking lush sceneries of
forest cover and rice fields, which makes it an ideal
place for picnics and outdoor recreation.
Tambobong White Beach: This expanse of white sand
beach in Dasol is desired by anglers and scuba divers
for its diverse marine life. |

Religious
Attractions
Shrine Of The Nuestra Señora De Manaoag: Devotees
congregate to the shrine of the Apo Baket thought to be
miraculous, praying for her intercession. Every first
Saturday of the month, a dawn procession is held in th
Virgin's honor.
Shrine Of The Immaculate Concepcion: Located at
Barangay Station District, Rosales, the grotto has
gained distinction as a pilgrimage site because of the
well-documented apparitions.
Man-made Attractions
Oceanographic Marine Laboratory: The Department
of Agriculture maintains thi laboratory at Lucap,
Alaminos where researches on fish production in
particular bangus, siganid, and lapu-lapu breeding are
conducted.
Cape Bolinao Lighthouse: The lighthouse was built
by the Americans in 1903 on a 300 feet high promontory
at the western part of Cape Bolinao still sending
signals to vessels passing by the area.
SPECIAL INTEREST
Scuba Diving
Fourteen Mile Reef: The reef is several
kilometers long and is actually an extension of the
western edge of Lingayen Gulf off the coast of Santiago
Island. It has some hard and soft coral growth, many
shells and variety of fish. The gradual slope ranges
from 10 to 40 meters with the western edge dropping
abruptly to over 250 meters.
Devil’s Island: Regarded as the best site for
scuba diving at the Hundred Islands National Park.
Villacorta Cave: The longest cave in Mabini,
Pangasinan, it offers two hours worth of exploration.
Nalsoc Cave: Located in Calayo, Bani, a
subterranean river flows through miles of natural
archway of stalactites and stalagmites.
Hundred Islands Ocean Sports: Tourists can now
experience water sports adventure at the Hundred Islands
National Park. Activities include kayaking, jet skiing,
parasailing, snorkeling, big game fishing, and
windsurfing. |
