Moalboal White Sand Beach Resort |

According to legend, Moalboal got its name from a
bubbling spring near the seashore. Locals of the
area have circulated stories about a Spaniard asking
natives what is the name of the place was. Thinking
that they were asked about the bubbling spring, the
natives answered "bokal-bokal", which means spring
in the local dialect. Language barriers between
Spaniards and the natives resulted to the naming of
the area Moalboal, which sounds like "bokal-bokal".
Despite its proximity to Ceby City, Moalboal has
retained a unique charm and relaxed atmosphere that
has endeared to local and foreign tourists,
especially those who love nature. Beach resorts,
dive spots and orchid farms abound the area, making
Moalboal the ideal getaway from the busy city life. |

Most
of the resorts lining up the seashore of Moalboal boast
great food, cozy accommodations, breath-taking views and
interesting dive spots.
Right in front of Love's Beach Resort is the House Reef,
which slopes down from 1 to 20 meters. The reef has
different coral blocks, sponges and sea anemones, making
it ideal for taking dive trainings, night dives and
underwater photography. Another must see in Moalboal is
Pescador Island, which is famous for its beautiful and
untouched marine life. The small island is fringed by
shallow reefs of about 3 to 10 meters wide and drop-offs
plunge away to depths of more than 40 meters. Caverns
and overhangs decorate the island's cliffs, such as the
majestic Pescador Cathedral which is a large underwater
cavern reached by a 15-meter wide funnel which descends
to 35 meters. White tip sharks are common in the area
while hammerheads occasionally appear. Divers are also
treated to beautiful coral gardens and schools of rare
fishes. Dive enthusiasts should also not miss the famous
Sunken Island, which is the best place for early morning
dives. Schools of big fishes like lion fish, Spanish
dancers, sharks and tunas frequent the area which is
ideal for more experinced divers.
