Bataan
is the peninsula which is found in the western part of
Luzon. Bataan has an astounding cultural and historical
background, heritage and history. The province has attractive
scenic view and enchanting naural landscapes that
describe the wonders of the place. Beautiful mountain
ranges, amazing waterfalls, magnificent green valleys,
exotic world class beach resorts and a warm hospitality
that is truly Filipino.
Bataan has so much to offer that it is one of the most
popular tourist destination in the Philippines. The
province provides the adventure seekers an interesting
things to do because the place proves to be a tourist
haven boasting a multitude of exciting places to visit.
Bataan is located in west Luzon between Manila Bay and
the South China Sea. The province has two parts and
divided by a pass that separated the northern and
southern mountains. Beautiful beaches are found in the
eastern side. Bataan is easily be reach by ferryboat
across the Manila Bay.
Bataan is very significant in the Philippines History
because Bataan was among the first provinces to revolt
against Spanish regime. Not only that in World War II,
Bataan was the last line of defense against invading
Japanese forces. |

Dambana
ng Kagitingan: Also called "Shrine of Valor". A
Shrine that is built in memory of the soldiers who gave
their lives defending the country against the Japanese
in World War II. Located atop Mt. Samat in Pilar town.
It also immortalize the agony of Filipino and American
soldiers who died in the infamous death march.
Sto. Domingo Abucay Church: It portrays the
architectural and cultural heritage of our ancestors in
the Spanish period. The church is 414-years-old was
built in 1587 and influence by Spanish style
architecture. The church wasthe living witness to the
massacre of native defenders from the Dutch invaders on
June 16, 1647.
World War II Markers: These are the historical
markers in which are very important to our history. Many
Filipino and American soldiers died and sacrifice their
lives defending these markers. |

First Line of Defense Marker - This is the first
strong defense of the combined forces of the 71st
division of the American forces, 31st and 26th
Infantry Regiment, in January 1942. Located in Layac.

General King Marker - General Edward King, Jr.’s first
attempt to surrender Bataan into the hands of the
enemy in his effort to save the lives of his men who
were starved and sick due to the delay of supplies
from the U.S. Located in Lamao.

Surrender Site Marker - Found in the compound of
Balanga Elementary School, it is the site of the
formal surrender of Bataan.

Zero Km. Death March Marker - This is the site where
the Death March in Bagac begins.

Philippine-Japanese Friendship Tower: Located in
Bagac. The tower is the symbol of a reconciliation,
peace and friendship between Philippines and Japan after
the World War II.
Sibul Spring: A prime tourist attraction that is
found in Abucay. It's boasting sulfuric swimming pools
attracts tourist because of its magnificent beauty. The
natural hot spring, which is the main attraction, is
believed to be medicinal and can provide muscle pain
relief.
Dinalupihan Natural Parks: An untouched natural
virgin forest which is best for picnics and camping.
Located in Dinalupihan, the surrounding area is great
for day hikes and trekking.
Mt. Natib: If you want to have a perfect view of
the sorroundigs on top of the mountain, trek and climb
the 1253 meters Mt. Natib mountain. It provides
picturesque to nature lovers and fresh smell of natural
breeze of cool mountain air. You can also find exotic
plants and flowers and rare wildlife.
Balon Anito: Also called "dead volcano". The hot
spring at the mounth of the volcano is believe to be
therapeutic by the elderly that they frequently go there
to soak their feet.
