Dakak resort comprises of fifteen hectares of wooded land which is a natural reservoir of native plants and animals and provides an excellent setting for the private beach with powdery white sand. A natural spring water and a waterfalls feed the resort’s two swimming pools while providing an ultimate hideaway at an open Jacuzzi where guests can relax in the sauna and whirlpool amidst and atmosphere of blissful solitude. Dakak beach resort is located in Brgy. Taguilon, Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines.

The resort have complete facilities for whirlpool, swimming pool, billiards, basketball and tennis courts, bowling, golf, horseback riding and disco. Aqua sports facilities for jet skiing, kayaking, sailing, scuba diving and snorkeling are also available. For culinary treats, guests can dine on freshly grilled sea foods, exotic Filipino dishes, continental cuisine and an array of the freshest fruits. There are scheduled cultural shows for the guests as well as a party to dance the night away at Dakak Pirates Bar or at the Fusion Disco.

Diving in Dakak is best in the months of March until September. The dive sites near the resort provides a wide variety of environments that will surely satisfy any diver, from the novice to the pros. Some spots are coverd with soft coral growth and huge basket sponges, others with schools of fish like jacks, surgeons and small reef inhabitant while others have vertical walls and caves.

Some of the diving spots are Liuay Rock which is a low dive with sloping bottom. It has soft corals and unusual nudibranchs and starfish. This site is ideal for novice divers. The Caves diving site have striking walls that drop to an average of 60 degrees where there is a sandy bottom and series of caves that are occupied by fishes like soldier fish, puffer fish, sweepers and sea plumes. Night diving here is an impressive experience with Spanish dancers, sleeping fish and a wide diversity of nocturnal crustaceans. The Mushroom Wall is only ten feet with the shallow roof area that have fan corals, encrusting sponges, crevices and dramatic undercuts. Huge scraps of hard corals (Stag horn, lettuce leaf) with thousands of reef fish separate Mushroom Wall from “The Caves” on its end and to Snapper Ridge to the West. The Gardens is a series of coral gardens with plenty of anthias, hawk fish, and invertebrates. This spot is ideal for novice divers. Cesar’s Reef is a tiny reef with bounded coral covers. This reef is teeming with napoleon wrasses, tuna and parrot fishes. This dive site is for experienced divers only. The Wreck dive site has a seven year old sunken passenger ship. The site have great visibility and is great for adventurous and experienced divers only. Octopus Wall dive site have a  small wall with pretty growths and octopuses clinging to it. Buchok’s Reef is a series of large coral mounds that is teeming with giant reef rays, small white tip sharks, unicorn surgeons, snappers and sweetlips. This dive site is for experience divers only. The Challenger Reef has a top area of about 125 feet with soft coral growth. Romy’s Reef has plenty of coral mounds, enormous basket sponges and a fine selection of reef fishes. Blue spotted rays and a few turtles have been spotted here. The Eskuelahan is so named because of the numerous schools of fish that inhabits the dive site. The current here might pose a problem with novice divers.

Dakak can be reached by Air Philippines which flies five times a week to Dipolog City from Manila while other connections from other provinces may be made via Cebu’s Mactan International Airport. Asian Spirit also offers daily connecting flights to Dipolog from Cebu.
