Siargao to Become an Adventure Sports Tourism Paradise

Siargao province known to be one of the world’s best surfing destination will be developed as an adventure sports tourism paradise. This was announced by Presiden Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at the opening of the First Siargao Game Fishing Invitational Competition.

The Game Fishing Invitational Competition in Siargao province has opened an opportunity that the municipality of Pilar will become as a game fishing destination here in the Philippines. The other game fishing site in the country is the Cagayan province.

Siargao province is not only describe right now a the world’s best surfing destination because of the best wave that it can give but also has an amazing fishing area. In this features, it makes the Siargao province as an adventure sports tourism paradise.

The President said she has experienced surfing in Dako island where she frolicked with “cloud 9? which is considered one of the world’s top surfing waves.

The Game Fishing Invitational Competition in Siargao was formally opened by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo that has gathered 70 anglers from 10 countries that include anglers from Taiwan, People’s Republic of China, Brunei, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Russia and the Philippines. This competition has exhibited the country’s abundant seas to the world. The tournament tells the world that Philippines has an incredible game fishing spots like Siargao. Siargao Island is very rich in marine life where the seas is inhabited by thousands of fish species including giant tuna, tanguigue, king mackerel, great barracuda, swordfish and marlin.

Siargao Island Philippines boasts of having the largest contiguous mangrove in the country with around 8,760 hectares. Siargao is composed of 48 islands and islets-politically divided into nine municipalities—-Burgos, Dapa, Del Carmen, Gen. luna, Pilar, San Benito, San Isidro, Santa Monica, and Socorro.

The deep-sea fishing season where it is topnotch is from March to May because you can catch big fish such as sailfish weighing 40 kilograms and marlin as heavy as 200 kilograms cruise the deep water only a mile or two off the shores of the municipality of Gen. Luna. But one could fish for coral trout, large snappers and other reef fish anytime.
