Pulilan Butterfly Haven in Bulacan Philippines

Pililan Butterfly Haven is dedicated to butterfly-enthusiasts, nature lovers, and environmental conservationists everywhere. The Philippines is home to at least a thousand butterfly species and 44% is native to our country.
Pulilan Butterfly Haven offers visitors a once in a lifetime oppourtunity to witness the wonders of nature. Visitors get to see for themselve the various stages of a butterfly’s life cycle, from courting to mating, laying of the eggs, hatching from the eggs, growing into caterpillar to the birth of a new butterfly. Every step of the butterfly’s life cycle is a wonder to behold and a unique experience to witness.
Aside from witnessing the life cycle of a butterfly, the visitors are welcome to explore the lush greenery. Reminiscent of tropical rainforests, the verdant foliage and vibrant ornamental plants of the Haven’s gardens not only create a cool and soothing atmosphere for visitors, but also serve as an ideal habitat for hundreds of butterflies. While enjoying the greenery, the calming effect of the miniature waterfall offers a soothing symphony of natural music as well as a cool and refreshing counterpoint to the tropical heat.
Tucked behind the cascading waters of the falls, a small man-made cave serves as a butterfly nursery, where chrysalises of all sizes and shapes await the emergence of adult butterflies. A play of light and shadows through a small window in the cave’s right-hand wall, gives it an air of quiet mystery and anticipation. At the foot of the waterfalls is a lily pond. A little bridge arches gracefully over the pond, where a school of Japanese carp frolic gleefully beneath.
No visit to the Haven is complete without feeding a butterfly. Hold out a piece of mashed banana on your fingertips and it will surely attract a butterfly or two. You have to hold still when a butterfly will come to sample your offering - the experience is awesome! Apart from the actual experience of observing butterflies in their natural habitat, the Haven’s exhibit rooms offer a wealth of knowledge on butterflies. Vivid live-action photographs of butterflies bred at the Haven trace every stage of the butterfly life-cycle in dazzling detail.
Every guided tour of the Haven begins with a six-minute video presentation on the life-cycle of the butterfly. Shown on a wide screen television set, the video is a vivid montage of live-action scenes tracing the butterfly’s various life-cycle stages. Also, upon visitor’s request, a ten-minute presentation on the scenic attractions and livelihood opportunities of Pulilan can also be viewed.
Another activity in the Haven is the butterfly art. The Haven’s Art Gallery, which was inspired by the ethereal splendor of the butterflies, is a growing collection of amateur artwork, accumulated from the most promising entries to the Haven’s Annual Butterfly Painting Contest.
After a day of trekking the havens paths, caves and gardens, the visitors are welcome to take a dip in the haven’s butterfly inspired swimming pool. Enjoy the cool and clean filtered water that will give visitors true relaxation after a day’s learning experience.
Getting to the Haven is no problem at all, because it’s less than an hour’s drive from the North Expressway - Balintawak Interchange.
