Nestled between the beautiful ocean and lush mountains, El Rio y Mar Island is a private haven that immerses you in the beauty of nature. The resort offers bay view cabanas as its accommodations for their guests. El Rio y Mar Island Resort offers dive courses and diving sites that will have divers coming back for more. Some of the dive sites include the house reef that is located off Dimakya Island shore entry. This meandering reef features different species of tunicates, sponges, seastars, sea cucumbers, turtles and cuttlefish (seasonal). An aggregation of giant clams (Tridacna gigas, an endangered species) is located at 12 meters. Several species of damselfish, wrasses, groupers, fairy basslets, emperors, parrotfish, snappers, butterfly fish, flying gurnard and cardinal fish are among the inhabitants of the reef. This site is good for macro photography. The Lang-aw reef is located off Isla Lang-aw that features abundant fish life predominantly composed of surgeonfish, rabbit fish, damselfish, wrasses, parrotfish, groupers and butterfly fish. The Diboyuyan reef is off Diboyuyan Island that features stony corals of magnificent formation. Mantas, blacktip and whitetip sharks are sporadically sighted. This reef is one of the traditional fishing grounds in this area. The Kyokuzan Maru is a wreckage dive site located at Dimalanta Iasland. It features a Japanese freighter. The main structures remain intact. It carries in one of its holds a car and a truck. This wreck provides shelter to batfishes and substrate for the ubiquitous bivalves. Barry’s reef is near the Pearl farm and has plenty of macro subjects. Small to medium-sized Porites corals are arranged to form some sort of a big stairway. The Apo reef is the second most facinating reef in the Philippines which is located in the Midoro Strait. It has very dramatic drop-offs down to about 400 m. The steep walls are well covered with corals, sponges, tunicates, nudibranchs and slugs. The coral formation is magnificent at the plateau. Green and hawksbill turtles and multitude of fish including damselfish, butterfly fish, batfish, surgeonfish, snappers, fusiliers and trevallies are usually seen.

Other activities are also offered at the resort like snorkeling, yachting, scuba diving, bird watching, hobiecat sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, island hopping, diving or visit other nearby tourist attractions like Calauit Wildlife Sanctuary and the awe-inspiring Cayangan Lake among others. The resort’s Guest Services Officers have prepared programmed activities such as cultural shows, environmental shows, indoor sports tournaments such as table tennis, billiards and darts, group board games, ballroom and disco dancing, treasure hunting, parties and other fun activities both for kids and adults. Picnic lunches, sunset dinners, cocktails and cruises can also be arranged depending on prevailing sea and weather conditions.
