i stayed in this hotel( manila pavillion) for from November 18-21 07 for purposes of accomodation during the period of our participation in a national debate competition. On November 19 at around 7:30 am, we left the hotel. prior to our departure, I had seized my bag of things I had to bring. My wallet was there but I decided not to bring it. I even told my room mate that I’d just borrow some cash from her just in case. When we arrived at around 5, the room was cleaned, as I immediately looked for my wallet to pay up my other friend. However, to my surprise,the wallet which I left in my brown bag containing 3000 pesos and my id was no longer there. I am very sure I left it there, but still, to satisfy everyone’s curiosity, we looked around the room, yet we found nothing. We reported it to the management. But to my dismay, with the denial of the room boy who cleaned my room and their alleged investigation of the entire staff, they decided to drop my complaint as according to them, they found no evidence to hold the culprit guilty. Indeed, it was merely three thousand. But their constant affirmation to me that they would do something about my case was saddening. All they said was that they didn’t find anything. Indeed, guilt must not be established by mere presumption. However, it may be proven by convincing evidence, testimonial or circumstantial, which would substantiate such claim; something which I clearly had on hand. What I sought was reimbursement at the very least. However, despite my consistent efforts, I received nothing. I couldn’t help but feel and think that all along, they were waiting for us, people from the probinsyas, to finally leave the hotel and go home.
