The beautiful tropical island of Boracay is one of the most scenic destinations in the Philippines. Famous for its white sand beaches, Boracay is a prime place for swimming, boating and enjoying other popular beach activities and water sports. In addition to the beach, there are several other attractions to enjoy in Boracay that make it an ideal destination for those interested in a variety of experiences.

White Beach is one of the islands most popular attractions, and it is ideal for swimming and water sports if visited during the dry season from November through April. During the rainy season (June through October), White Beach is windy and rainy. You can arrange a boat or diving tour and rent gear at one of the many dive shops located along White Beach.

The Bat Caves located on the northeast coast of Yapak are a popular tourist attraction you won’t want to miss on your visit to Boracay. The caves are home to thousands of bats – including giant fruit bats with wingspans of up to four feet.

Each evening, the bats exit the caves at dusk to begin their nightly hunt for food. You can hire a local guide to lead you on an expedition through the jungle to the Bat Caves. If you are opposed to the stench of bat caves or trekking through jungle paths, you can alternatively wait for the sunset at White Beach. You will see hundreds (if not thousands) of bats fly overhead on their exit from the Bat Caves.

The Dead Forest is a haunting Boracay attraction you won’t want to miss. Once a mangrove swamp, a dam break allowed saltwater to flow into the swamp, killing off the mangroves. Local lore maintains the Dead Forest is haunted by ghosts and spirits, and supernatural occurrences are claimed to occur here – especially during full moons. Plan to bring your camera on a visit to this incredibly atmospheric and intriguing attraction.

If you enjoy mountain hiking and you are in good physical shape, you may wish to climb Mount Luho. At 100 meters above sea level, this is the highest elevation on Boracay Island. The hike up the mountain is demanding, but you will be rewarded with a spectacular view at the summit.
