Camarines Sur Philippines has reached its goal to become as the top tourist destination in the country. In the first six months of 2009, it was reported by the Department of Tourist (DOT) that Cmarines Sur total tourist arrival has reached to 902,202. This statistics made this region as the top and most favored tourist destination in the Philippines.

The report of the Department of Tourism is a very good news to the people of Camarines Sur especially to Governor LRay Villafuerte where he himself was surprise to the figures of the DOT. A reliable source said that Governor LRay Villafuerte didn’t expect that Camarines source will be on top in tourism in the Philippines in a short time because CamSur was ranked as the third tourist destination last year.

Also in the report of the Department of Tourism (DOT) in the fist six months of 2009, Camarines Sur garnered one-fourth of the total arrivals in the key destination in the Philippines. The province has a 52 percent growth in foreign visitors and 260 percent growth in domestic visitors. This robust growth in local and foreign visitor arrivals is due to the efforts, hard work and timely investments of tourism project of Governor LRay Villafuerte.

The top tourist attraction in Camarines Sur which is the forefront in the Province’s tourism is the Camarines Sur Watersports Complex (CWC) where there are many foreign and local visitors want to experience the excitement of the water-based sports. Camarines Sur is also tagged as the wakeboarding mecca and a center of various water-based sports in the country. The other main tourist attraction is the Gota Village Resort, which is the leading eco-tourism destination in the world.

These two main tourist attraction of Camarines Sur beat the odds and outranked the other popular tourist destination in the Philippines such as Cebu, Puerto Princesa, Bohol, Boracay, and Puerto Galera. Camarines Sur will still maintain its top position for the rest of the year because of the international activities that will attract more visitors and tourist such as the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines scheduled at the CWC on August 23, where 500 participants from all over the world are joining the event.
