Taal Lake is the Philippines’ third largest lake which is located in the province of Batangas. The active Taal Volcano lies on an island in the center of the lake called Volcano Island. The volcano’s status is active and is monitored closely by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). Inspite of this, the lake is now a tourist spot with a very fascinating view. With the surge of tourists in the area, beautiful resorts and establishments have been built to cater to the needs of the visitors. Taal Lake is now one of the vacation getaway destination here in the Philippines with its beautiful resorts and establishments.

The church of St. Catherine of Alexandria in Carcar, Cebu is already 124 years old and is among the great wonder and treasure of the town. It is not clear in the history records as to who built the church but it must be observed that the Augustinian friars were in charge of the parishes from San Nicolas up to Tañon and from then on.

In 1976, the island fortress was made into Grande Island recreation Center that is open to military personnel and their dependents. It was established as a family recreation center. General Santos’ Tuna Festival 2008, you expect more surprises and exciting activities that the local government and organizers have prepared like the Sashimi Night, Tuna Congress, Tuna Float Competition, Ms. Gensan, The Karagatan Awards, the Bankarirahan and many more. There are other skills and talent competitions in the 10th Tuna Festival that could entertain the locals especially the local and visitor tourist to watch such as the Pop Idol Contest, the Cheerdance Pasiklaban Competition, The Body Fest, The Fish Fest at the Fort and the Tuna Culinary Skills Competition.
