What
will happen if malicious threats such as computer
viruses don't exists, I'm very sure that antivirus makes
will be out of business. But that is not always the
case. Hackers and intruders are always way step ahead of
the latest technology tools that people are using.
Consumers and businesses spend more money just to
contain these attacks and the cost is too much to bear.
That is why vigilance against internet attacks is very
critical because of the reports that the attacks are
increasing in numbers everyday worldwide. Around the
world, network attacks security threats such as Nimda,
Code Red, SirCam, Love Bug, Melissa, ExploreZip have
wrought havoc costing around $ 14 billion in terms of
world economic impact. The cost includes the elimination
of the virus, clear and restore system, lost revenue and
the impact of worker productivity.
In Philippines, there is a group called Philippine
Honeynet Project who focused on internet security
research and is a member of the Honeynet Research
Alliance, a global forum of security research
organizations tracking and monitoring hacker activity
around the world, said that Philippine Internet attacks
numbered 336.2 each day and the attacks came from within
the country. The study shows that Philippines ranked
number 6 among the countries with the highest internet
attacks.
That is why Pacific Internet takes into action and
called a press conference to launched a solution for
these network security threats that companies needs.
Pacific Internet introduced the "Sentinel" where it will
"take away the headache of managing their own security
solutions." Sentinel is a 6-in-1 security service
solution that combines firewall, antivirus, antispam,
intrusion prevention, content filtering, and virtual
private network in a single package.
Now it is said that this security solution is much
cheaper and affordable than you are setting up your own
security solution. Pacific Internet said that Sentinel
is very unique than other those software based security
management solutions in the market. Sentinel makes use
of the unified threat management (UTM) device which is
installed in the network and the router to ensure that
the client's system is protected. The company also
claims that the solution also provides remote management
and monthly reposts to update clients on attempted
break-ins and other relevant information.
Pacific Internet is eyeing in the small and medium
enterprises(SMEs) because this is where they target
their product. Sentinel internet solution comes in four
packages such as Lite, Pro, Enterprise, and Customized. |
