Garden
Shows are fast approaching and this is the time for
people who have gardens and love to do gardening. Here
are the schedule of the Major Garden Shows in the
country and it's location.
Los Baņos Orchid Society Garden Show
On October 5 to 14, the Los Baņos Orchid Society will be
staging the Club's second garden whos for this year.
This garden show will commence at the Seniors Social
Garden inside UP Los Baņos. The Los Baņos Orchid Society
headed by Dr. Jean Lasap. Philodendrons will be the
featured plants in this garden show, Dr. Benito S.
Vergara said. Dr. Benito S. Vergara, a national
scientist and a pillar of the organization. A special
award will be given to the outstanding Philodendron and
to the booth that will show the most original use of
bamboo.
4th PBSI National Bonsai Open Exhibition and
Competition
The next garden show will be the 4th PBSI National
Bonsai Open Exhibition and Competition which will be
held at the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City. The
exhibit and the plant bazaar will be held at parking lot
of the Araneta Coliseum (Red Gate) while the lectures
and demonstrations will be held at the Activity Center
of Gateway Mall.
The members of the club will finalize the coming show on
Saturday on their meeting, October 6, at the residence
of Mrs. Gupit. There will also be a bonsai clinic and
tips on grooming bonsai trees.
Bonzai Masters from Taiwan and local bonsai artists will
conduct lecture demonstrations and workshops. This
garden show will feature Allied arts of bonsai, Suiseki
(the art of natural stone appreciation) and Saikei (the
art of landscaped tray arrangements using trees and
stone). Lecture an demo of these allied arts will be
given by Mrs. Fely S. Gupit.
Philippine Horticultural Society - Horticulture 2008
Next year January 26 to February 4, Philippine
Horticultural Society will hold its annual garden show
"Horticulture 2008" which will be held at the Manila
Seedling Bank in Quezon City.
Horticulture 2008 will feature close to to 20
interpretations of modern tropical paradise landscaped
by the top landscape practitioners in the country. This
was announced by P.J. Nepomuceno, co-chair of the show
(with Dorie S. Bernabe). The booths in the Horticulture
2008 will also feature a fruit and vegetable
arrangements as accents since they are integral parts of
horticulture that have been neglected. |
