President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo arrived this morning
in Loboc, Bohol to inaugurate the Loboc Children's Choir
Theater and the access road leading to it. Loboc Mayor
Leon Calipusan and Ambassador Carlos Chan of Liwayway
Marketing assisted the President in the ceremonies.
Ambassador Carlos Chan donated the theater for the
world-famous Loboc Children's Choir. Ambassador Chan
said that he donated the theater so that the children's
choir will have a permanent place to practice. The
22-member choir then serenaded the President and guests
during the ceremony.
The choir was founded in 1980 and since then emerged as
one of the most outstanding young singers in the
country. The choir has already harvested awards here and
in international competitions. It won the National Music
Competition for Young Artists (children’s category) in
1993, 1995 and 2001. The Loboc Children's Choir has also
bagged two major awards during the Europe’s Songs 6th
International Folklore Choir Festival held in Barcelona,
Spain.
After the inauguration, together with Tourism Secretary
Joseph Ace Durano, the President then boarded in one of
Loboc's famous floating restaurants for a cruise on the
Loboc River. |
