How to Sleep Like a Baby?

Many of us toss and turn in our bed at night or get up from bed just to answer the call of nature and alas! sleep has left us. When morning comes, we’re groggy and looks drunk. Sleep is the best stress buster that nature has given us. Eight hours of sleep a day guarantees beauty as well as brains. During sleep, our body heals itself and recharge so that we’ll be ready to face another day when we wake up.
There are a lot of factors that contribute to lack or inability to sleep soundly. Stress in the work place and at home always takes it toll on us. With so much turmoil and anxiety in your mind, you cannot lie down and doze off, even if you fervently wish to. Special conditions like pregnancy affect sleeping ability for most women. Illness also interferes with sleeping habits. Whatever the case, you must try to catch some sleep before morning comes and here are some tried and tested tips on how to sleep like a baby:
- Keep a regular sleeping habit and try to stick to it.
- Exercise regularly to help your body relax. It will get rid of the sluggishness in your circulation, aids digestion, lessen depression and promotes good sleep.
- Refrain from taking naps during the day. Try relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation and listening to soothing music instead.
- Divest yourself of anger, tension, resentments and negative emotions. This creates a negative pulse in your brain and you’ll be worked out.
- Sleep in a well-ventilated and quite room.
- Refrain from consuming drinks that contains caffeine like coffee and soft drinks because they intervenes with sleep and so does alcohol. Try a glass of warm milk and a warm bath instead.
- Avoid anything that may need you to wake up. Urinate before going to bed and do not drink too much water. Prepare extra blankets before you sleep so that you do not need to get out of bed just to get them.
- Avoid a heavy meal but do not stay hungry too. Just eat something light.
- Avoid taking sleeping pills as this is addictive and habit-forming.
- Relax before going to bed. Clear your mind. Take a hot bath before you get into bed, and relax while you are in the tub. Close your eyes and practice deep breathing.
- Consult your doctor if you feel too tired or ill because of lack of sleep.
