Filipino Food – Sinampalukang Manok

For the best Philippine authentic “asim” sarap dish, add fresh “sampalok” leaves.
This Filipino recipe will take from 50 minutes to 1 hour to cook and can make 6 up to 8 servings.
Sinampalukang Manok Ingredients
- 1/2 kilo “sampalok”
- 9 to 10 cups of water with “hugas” bigas (from washed rice)
- 1 bunch “sampalok” leaves
- 1 large chicken, whole
- 3 tomatoes, quartered
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 tablespoon rock salt
- 1 “puso ng saging”, cut 2 inches long
- 2 pieces “gabi”, peeled and quartered
- 2 heads “mustasa”
Sinampalukang Manok Cooking Instructions
- Prepare the “sampalok” broth.
- Wash chicken and pat dry. Stuff cavity of chicken with “sampalok” leaves.
- Place chicken in a large stockpot and cover with water.
- Add tomatoes, onion, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Lower heat and simmer. Add “gabi” and cook until tender. Put in the “puso ng saging”.
- Add until “mustasa” and simmer until cooked. Season with “patis”.
