pluerobranchs, lots of nudibranchs, pipefishes, and a
spongecrab. Not only that a variety selection of reef
fishes, lots of bubble corals, gradual slopes, some
small walls and undercuts, moray eels, sea stars and
tube worms. Some of the dive sites offers a good view of
whip corals, gorgonians, large sponges and soft corals
and exotic tropical fishes such as lionfishes,
razorfishes, juvenile sweet-lips and seasnakes.
The islands in the Davao Gulf such as Samal Island and
Talikud Island offers a wide variety of marine life and
corals o the divers. Visibility in these dive sites are
excellent throughout the year which is good for

Samal Island: This beautiful island is located in
the Davao gulf and east of Davao City. This island is
now called Island Garden City of Samal. This island has
a multitude of dive sites to suit all tastes. The
crystal blue waters that surrounds this island paradise
is good for scuba diving because the coastline is rich
with underwater wildlife. Beautiful Gorgonians and black
corals with fish life including snapper, grouper and sea
snakes can be found in here. divers will encounter large pelagics here, together with the occasional dolphin. not
only that, divers will also see octopus, morays,
travally, surgeonfish and jacks with occasional sighting
of sharks. Dive sites that can be found in this island
are Ligid Caves and Pinnancle Point, marine sanctuaries
such as Pindawon Wall and Aundanao, Mushroom Rock and
Marissa 1,2 and 3. |

Talikud
Island: Talikud Island is a small island that is
located in the southwest coast of Samal Island. This
Island has a number of beautiful dive sites where divers
wan to explore. The crystal blue waters that surrounds
the island are the home of the exotic underwater marin
life like schools of smaller tropical fish, fusiliers,
sea horse, morays, sea urchins, barracuda, tuna and
jacks. Beautiful coral gardens can be found in here. The
spectacular dive sites that can be found in this island
are Mansud Wall, Talisay Wall, Dapia Reef, Isla Reta and
Coral Garden.
Small Ligid Island: Dive site in Small Ligid
Island isexcellent for beginners and novice divers. This
Island is sometimes called "Buenavista". To the
northeast of the island, hard coral covers tropical
colorful reef fishes like coral trouts and parrotfishes.
The southeast of the island offers large boulders with
sandy patches and lots of shells, soft corals,
nudibranchs and a few sea snakes. On the west side, you
can find some shallow small caves. Divers will encounter
schools of jacks and rainbow runners, with unicorns
found a bit shallower.
Tambang Reef: This small reef is also called "Bibing".
This site is great to dive at night because divers will
encounter pluerobranchs, lots of nudibranchs, pipefishes,
and a spongecrab with the biggest sponge. The reeftop is
5m deep. A little deeper, you will find a wall and a
large overhangs that are full of spectacular marine
life. In here you will see variety of tropical marine
life such as scorpion and lionfishes, shrimps,
trumpetfishes, hawkfishes and cardinalfishes, as well as
the occasional sleeping parrot or rabbitfish. |
